Surrounded by family, friends, and supporters, Ronnie Fields filed today for election to the office of Sheriff of Moore County.

Fields has spent his entire adult life in public service caring for the citizens of Moore County and the State of North Carolina. His many years of commitment began with the Carthage Rescue Squad and advanced into what would become a 30+ year career in law enforcement. He served as a Deputy with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department from 1983 until 1987 when he left to become a North Carolina State Trooper. For the next 22 years, Trooper Fields served our state with dignity, honor, and integrity enjoying positions in both enforcement as well as Executive Protection. In 2009, Fields returned to his roots and came back to the Moore County Sheriff’s Department at the request of Retired Sheriff Lane Carter. Upon his return to the Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Carter entrusted Fields with the command of the Special Operations Division. After a period of tremendous success, Sheriff Carter promoted Ronnie to the rank of Major and assigned him to oversee Personnel. Major Fields retired from the Moore County Sheriff’s Department after an exemplary career in 2013.

A lifelong resident of Carthage, Ronnie served on it’s town board from 1999 until 2007. From 2007 until 2009, Fields was honored to be the Mayor of Carthage. He is a Past President and a current member of the Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association. He is a past precinct chair of the Carthage precinct of the Republican Party and currently a member of the Moore County Republican Men’s Club. Fields holds the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate awarded by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

Ronnie is the youngest of 7 children born to the late Walter and Pauline Fields of Carthage. He is married to Renee Davis Fields and is a father and a grandfather.

Among those in attendance today, Retired Sheriff Lane Carter was quick to express his commitment to and endorsement of Fields. “I have known Ronnie Fields for over 45 years. He is a man who has dedicated his life to public safety. During his time with my administration, he proved himself time and time again as a very capable and dependable leader. Deputies looked up to him and his experience and easily followed his direction. I have the highest confidence that Ronnie will do an outstanding job as Sheriff and I proudly endorse his campaign.”

Fields also has the endorsement of another retired Sheriff of Moore County, Sheriff Frank Johnson.

Ronnie Fields

I am a native of Moore County, born and raised in Carthage, with over 30 years of law enforcement experience seasoned with deep knowledge of state and local government. I have dedicated much of my adult life to public service. I started out as a volunteer with the Carthage Rescue Squad from 1976 to 1987. I proudly served as a Deputy with the Moore County Sheriff's Office from 1983 to 1987 when I left to join the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. I wore the uniform of a State Trooper from 1987 until 2009 when I returned to my roots at the Moore County Sheriff's Office. I did my best to provide safety and security to the citizens of Moore County until my retirement in 2013. I retired at the rank of Major.

I was elected to the Carthage town board in 1999 where I served for 8 years. From 2007 until 2009, I was honored to be the Mayor of my hometown. I am a past president of the Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association and currently still a member of this fine organization. I am married to Renee Davis Fields and have 2 daughters, 1 son, and 4 grandchildren. My family and I are members of Community Friends Church in Carthage. I am a member of the Moore County Republican Men's Club and past precinct chair of the Carthage precinct of the Republican Party. I am a graduate of Union Pines High School and hold the North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate and have many hours of law enforcement and management training.

I want to be the Sheriff of Moore County in order to serve and protect our citizens with dedicated, professional, and highly qualified officers. I will demand that our Deputies serve at the highest level armed with moral and ethical traits that qualify them to be your keepers of the peace. I want to surround myself as your Sheriff with a qualified, experienced command staff to insure that we work together as a team to make the Moore County Sheriff's Office the very best in the state. I will be a Sheriff that will work hard for our citizens in an attempt to eliminate illegal drugs in Moore County. I will work hand in hand with local, state, and federal agencies to form a drug task force to combat this terrible problem. I will work with citizens to educate them on drug awareness. I will promote community watch programs and place heavy emphasis on community policing in an effort to involve and include all of Moore County's citizens.

I am honored to have the endorsements of two of Moore County's most decorated Law Enforcement professionals, Retired Sheriff Frank Johnson and Retired Sheriff Lane Carter.

Please join our team, "Fields for Sheriff in 2018." Together, we can make a difference and help the Sheriff's Office to stand strong once again!

And, don't ever forget, Help is on the Way!!
